Chapter Four

Rikki allowed herself to bask in the moment as Torger held her close. Making love to him had been everything she’d hoped for and more. It was something she didn’t regret. How could she when it was the best sex she’d ever had, and she didn’t think that way only because she hadn’t had any in a while.

She tilted her head and kissed Torger’s chin. “That was nice. Really nice, actually.”

He ran a caressing hand up and down her back. “It was. I plan to do it again, many times.”

“I like the sound of that.”

Rikki expected Torger to initiate a second round of lovemaking right then, but he kissed the top of her head before he pulled away and sat up. He swung his legs over the side of the bed.

“Are you going somewhere?” she asked as she sat up behind him.

He looked over his shoulder and smiled. “We both are.”

“I thought maybe you wanted to, you know, make love again.”

Torger leaned back and gave her a kiss. “Don’t worry. We’re going to do that. Only it’ll have to wait until we come back here.”

“Where are we going?”

“I figured we’d go across the street to the coffee shop so you can meet Kaisa and Cameron. They’re probably there now. Brolach and Waverly won’t be since they have the day off work.”

Rikki shifted to sit at Torger’s side, then ran her hand up and down his muscular thigh. “Are you sure you want to go this instant? There’s plenty of time for me to meet them another day.”

He picked up her hand and kissed the tips of her fingers. “True, but I think you should get to know them as soon as possible, especially Kaisa.” Torger smiled. “Remember I said I’d try to break you of your loner ways.”

He let go of her, stood, then picked his jeans off the floor. Torger put them on before he grabbed his t-shirt. Rikki really didn’t understand why he wanted the meeting to take place now. Obviously, he wouldn’t be put off, though.

Rikki slid off the bed and then gathered up her clothes. She headed to the bathroom. After using the toilet, she dressed. She came out to find Torger waiting for her in the hallway.

“All ready to go?” he asked.

She nodded. “Yes, but it’s still not too late to change your mind.” Rikki gave Torger what she hoped was a sexy grin and not a goofy one.

He chuckled and shook his head. “Come on. You need to meet new people, besides me, that is.”

“Fine. We’ll go.”

Torger grabbed her hand, then led Rikki out of the apartment. He waited for her to lock the door behind them before they headed down the stairs to the street level. It was just a short walk to arrive at the coffee shop.

He held the door open for her so she could enter ahead of him. There was a good amount of people sitting at tables, and the delicious smell of coffee and donuts made her think it wasn’t such a bad idea coming there, after all.
